Vanity Tour + My Makeup Collection

Vanity Tour + My Makeup Collection

Recently, I moved apartments and that gave me a chance to completely redo the way I set up my vanity area.

I previously had stored my makeup on a shelf and me sitting in front of a full length mirror in bad lighting (the default lighting had a terrible yellow undertone). After deciding to move, I knew that I had to change it up and all of my dreams of having a Pinterest-esque vanity set up was coming true!

I originally planned to get the famous Alex drawer and table set from Ikea, but after realizing the estimated delivery time was after 1 month, I scrapped that plan and bought the four pieces for my vanity set up separately on Amazon. Not only did it end up costing me less, it also was significantly faster (gotta love that Amazon Prime 2 day delivery)!

This is how I organized my vanity:

This is how the actual vanity table looks like on any given basis. I have my brushes (some dirty, some clean) on the left, lip products on the right, and a lot of miscellaneous products in the middle.

I am that person that needs my brushes to be accessible easily, and I use individual mugs to carry brushes to separate out specific brushes from others. For example, I have all of my face brushes in one mug, and the other mug contains all of my eye brushes.

On the right side, I have all of my lip products in a spinning lip stick holder in order for me to easily find all of my lip products. I have a bad habit of always wearing the same lip color, so this allows me to visualize all of the products I have and force myself to step out of my comfort zone!

On the edge of the mirror, I have placed all of my concealers, foundations and BB creams, and makeup sprays for easy access (you can also see my Beauty Blender and Mikasa Lemon Drop sponge chilling in the middle, waiting to be washed).

The white box with a crown holds all of my earrings, the pink petal dish on the left holds the false lashes I am currently using, and the brown box with a miniature blue box holds my brow and lash essentials.

The drawer right under my vanity table is where I store my powders, extra tools like an brow trimmer and extra lash glue, primers, mascara, eyeliner, and a mixing plate for my foundation.

I keep these items here for 2 reasons. One, I use all of these almost on a daily basis, and two, I ran out of space on my drawer on the left. If I had it my way, I would have chosen to get an extra drawer in order to organize and separate each category of products better, but the lack of infinite space unfortunately significantly deters me.

The four boxes on the right are the new bracelets for charity from Pranava Beauty by Carli Bybel.

Sitting on top of my drawer on the left of the table are all of my skincare essentials, fragrances, and hair brush. The black clip also has a home here, and is probably the one hair essential aside from a brush that I cannot live without. On the right, I have my facial masks and my glasses resting on top.

The reason that I keep my skincare and fragrances so easily accessible here is because I use to keep them in my bathroom before I moved. The problem that I found is that with only one sink in the bathroom and limited space (after all, this is New York City), it was almost impossible for me to get ready at the same time as my boyfriend in the morning. By moving my skincare over to my vanity table, fighting for counter space in the morning becomes needless!

On a side note, my favorite fragrance at the moment is Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb.

The first drawer is the home of my highlighters (liquid, cream, and powder). Originally, I had envisioned for all of my highlighters, blush, and bronzer to go in one drawer only to realize that there wasn’t any way I could fit them all in one drawer without having to stack them on top of each other.

Each of my drawers are set up where there would be minimal overlap of space between each product in order for me to actually be able to see all of my options.

The second drawer has all of my blushes, bronzers, and contour powders. This is the drawer were it gets a little crazy. The best organization I have honestly given this drawer is separating them, with blushes on the left and bronzers/contour on the right.

The third and fourth drawer holds all of my eyeshadows, individuals and palettes.

Currently, my most used eyeshadow palette is the Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition Palette with BH Cosmetics. The colors of the Carli Bybel Deluxe Palette are so pigmented, so rich, and my absolute favorite!

One eyeshadow palette I am currently trying out is from the new Pretty Vulgar line at Sephora! I will say this: their packaging is SO CUTE!

The last drawer is everything that doesn’t fit in a category above.

It houses my extra false eyelashes (my current favorites are from the Eylure and Fleur DeForce collaboration), an extra Beauty Blender, beauty blender and brush cleaner, extra skincare essentials, and the beautiful packaging from the KKW by Kylie Cosmestics that I couldn’t bear to throw away.

I am that person that needs to have backup of my essentials, so if you dig through my drawer IRL, the most common backup item you will find is a brow pencil and backup skincare items.

Sitting on the window sill above my vanity desk is all of my hair care products. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post all about my hair!

That is my entire vanity table set up! This space makes me so happy because I don’t have unlimited resources to spend, nor do I have unlimited space to use. This is the first time I have ever been given the full control to design an area like this all for myself, and I absolutely love it. I can definitely see this set up changing in the future, but for now, this is how it is!
