Top Clothing Reseller Apps and How to Earn a Quick Buck

We all have those days where we feel like the countdown to the next paycheck seems like an eternity. The crazy part is that some of us own clothing or accessories worth hundreds of dollars! Speaking for myself, I know that it is crazy to try to live off of $50 to my next paycheck when there is a bag in my closet worth $400 that I never use. The wonderful thing about the internet is that now, we have more ways than ever to earn a quick buck, and my favorite way of earning some quick money between paychecks is to sell my clothes.

That is why I highly recommend reselling clothes, not just from a financial point of view, but also from a sustainability point of view.

The problem with donating our clothes or sending them to a consignment shop is that often times, our clothes won’t be accepted because it is either flawed or because it is out of style. Another problem is that so many people are trying to send their clothes to donation or to consignment shops that often times, donation centers or consignment shops may be overflowing with clothes that they don’t know what to do with.

That is why I highly recommend looking into alternative measures to get rid of your clothes. One amazing option is textile recycling, and the other option is to resell our clothes to others. The benefits to selling our clothes are numerous. You can save the planet by reducing waste through keeping clothes in circulation for longer, and you can earn some quick cash.

With that being said, here is a list of my favorite places to resell my clothes.

  1. Tradesy
  2. Mercari
  3. Poshmark
  4. eBay
  5. Depop
  6. Thredup
  7. ASOS Marketplace
  8. Facebook Marketplace

The majority of the apps and sites listed above are probably ones that you have heard of or read about many times over. Instead of wasting your time talking about an app you are already familiar with, I want to talk about some of the apps on here that may seem weird to include on here: eBay and Facebook.

The wonderful thing about eBay is that unlike Amazon whose user interface almost discourages you from buying from 3rd party sellers, eBay almost encourages you to resell. I have had great success selling on eBay, and I HIGHLY recommend everyone checking it out!

Another amazing and lesser-known tool is Facebook. There are two amazing ways to sell through Facebook: Facebook marketplace or Facebook groups. Often times, there are multiple Facebook groups that are created for the sole purpose of reselling, and the best thing about them is that you get to keep all of the commission from your sale! The reseller apps will take a chunk of the sale, but if you sell through Facebook groups, you keep everything you make! Another reason why Facebook is crushing it with the resell business is that its marketplace allows you to search for items being sold locally, and you can even list things such as a new apartment for rent. The functionalities are endless, and so, the possibilities are endless.

At the end of the day, whichever method you choose to resell your clothes, just remember that this is one of the best ways to be sustainable.

if you have other suggestions of amazing reseller apps or sites, leave them down below! There is also such a huge reseller community on Instagram; I highly recommend using hashtags such as #resellfashion to discover amazing resellers who have made an incredible small business off of reselling.
