My 24th Birthday: Kobe Year

My 24th Birthday: Kobe Year

I celebrated the beginning of my Kobe Year last Saturday on the 28th of October.

It was one of those birthdays that I genuinely was not ready for. Turning 24 hit me like a ton of bricks, and suddenly, I realized that I am essentially starting a whole new era of my life. I am years removed from college, and I am not relying on my parents for money.

My lovely boyfriend had the whole day (and weekend) planned out.

The day started out with french toast. French toast is an absolute favorite of mine. To actually be woken up and surprised with breakfast already made is genuinely one of the best experiences I have had. It isn’t realistic to always expect to have breakfast in bed or surprises such as this, but it does mean so much when you know that your significant other is do something like that for you.

The first place he took me was shopping on 5th Avenue. We went to Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, and many others to window shop. I genuinely believe that we didn’t shop on Madison Avenue because he knew that I would have actually bought everything, whereas some of the prices on 5th Avenue are a little bit too much outside of my price range. The best part was that he agreed to buy any gift for me under a certain price limit. I actually didn’t end up buying anything because I honestly prefer online shopping, but the thought was there and it was genuinely so sweet.

After shopping, we went to the Russian Tea Room. I am in love with tea, scones, and everything to do with afternoon tea. One of my favorite places in the whole city is Alice’s Tea Cup, and I had been dying to go to the Russian Tea Room for a while. The sandwiches at the Russian Tea Room was absolutely amazing, and their Oolong tea was so rich. Overall, the prices for high tea was fairly pricey, but for the amount of food you get, it is so worth it. I left feeling super stuffed and wasn’t hungry until I ate dinner again at 10PM.

The next place we went to was the Lip Lab by Bite Beauty where I created my own 2 custom lip shades. The first color I created was the perfect coral shade for me. I have never found a coral lipstick that worked for me because all of them are either too red, too pink, or too orange. I was so excited to have actually created a shade that works for me because I had been dreaming of finding a perfect coral. I call this shade California Coraling. This shade name came from an idea presented to me by the employee at Bite Beauty. We started speaking of how I am from California, and this shade name was created.

The second shade I created was the most versatile mauve lipstick ever. The color by itself is a deep mauve with burgundy purples and browns mixed together. I can pair it with a lighter lip liner to create a more purple mauve lipstick, or I can pair it with a dark lip liner to bring out the browns. This shade is called Scorpio Season. The reason that I decided to call this custom lip shade by this name is because not only am I a Scorpio, but I think that this lip shade is perfect for October, perfect for Fall, and perfectly describes all Scorpios. It is deep and versatile like Scorpios are, and I want to wear it everywhere.

We went to AMC to watch The Foreigner after going to Bite Beauty. I absolutely love going to the movies, and there is nothing better than having a Coca-Cola slushee and movie popcorn while watching a movie at an amazing theater. To be perfectly honest, I prefer Regal Cinemas over AMC Theaters, but the idea is the same.

The night finished with a dinner reservation overlooking Central Park at The Robert in Columbus Circle. The customer service and dining experience there was top notch, and the lobster I ordered was fantastic. They gave me a special birthday celebration, and I 100% will be returning!

The following 2 days, Sunday and Monday, were not real celebrations of my birthday, but it was special all the same. We went to Met Life Stadium to watch the New York Jets play against the Atlanta Falcons (FYI, I am a huge Packers fan so I was mostly there to see the Falcons lose and to boo Matt Ryan). It was so cold and rainy; by the time I got home, I was fairly sure that I was almost halfway to getting hypothermia. I stood in the shower for several minutes just warming up. Monday was my birthday ride at SoulCycle with Olivia. I love SoulCycle, and to have one of my favorite instructors make the experience so special was beyond amazing.

Overall, I had such an amazing birthday, and I am so grateful to everyone who made it special.

I love you all, and I will be back real soon with a new blog post!
